Anytype
Local-first knowledge management without the lock-in.
Latest release: v0.57.3 · released Sep 30, 2026
In short
Notes, tasks and databases that live on your device first and sync with end-to-end encryption. The app is free with 100 MB of encrypted backup; paid memberships add storage. Its licence lets you read the source, but it is not OSI open source.
Made by: Any Association · Where your data lives: On your device first, encrypted with keys only you hold; an encrypted backup syncs to Anytype’s EU servers unless you self-host or stay local-only.

The editor’s take
A good fit if you want your notes encrypted on your own device. It is not a drop-in Notion replacement for large teams, and the licence is not open source.
Best for
Personal knowledge and privacy
Individuals and small groups who want offline-first notes, tasks and databases.
