OpenDots
An open-source, self-hosted template for always-on AI coworkers.
Alpha
OpenDots is made by CopilotKit. It is not an OpenAI product and is not affiliated with OpenAI.
In short
CopilotKit’s alpha template for “Dots”: AI coworkers you can message, call or mention in Slack, with pages and spaces for your documents. You run it yourself and plug in any OpenAI-compatible model.
Made by: CopilotKit · Where your data lives: Pages and settings in a SQLite file on your server; conversation history in your CopilotKit Intelligence project.

The editor’s take
An early, developer-only way to try the dots idea without a ChatGPT Pro plan. Treat it as an experiment, not a product.
Best for
Developers exploring agents
People who want to see how always-on agents work and adapt the code to their own tools.

Alpha status and costs
It is only days old, has no releases, and still needs paid model API keys.

Getting started without coding

- Clone the repository, install with npm, copy .env.example to .env and start it as the setup guide shows.
- Open the local address in your browser; you can set up spaces and pages before connecting any service.
- To chat, add a CopilotKit Intelligence key and an OpenAI-compatible model key to .env and restart.
